In 2026, the global HIV community will mark a defining milestone. Ten years of Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U), one of the most transformative advances in HIV prevention, treatment, and stigma reduction.
To honor this moment and to look ahead to what the next decade requires, the Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+) and the Prevention Access Campaign (PAC) are proud to announce a new collaboration to center the theme of ten years of U=U at the 2026 LIVING conference to spotlight the unfinished business of the HIV response and the opportunity of U=U transformative impact towards ending AIDS and keeping people alive.
LIVING2026 will take place on 25 July 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as a pre-conference to the 26th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2026) and will highlight the incredible impact of HIV treatment as prevention on the health, longevity, and quality of life for all PLHIV.
This partnership will position LIVING2026 as a global moment to celebrate community leadership, reflect on lessons from the first decade of U=U, and strengthen the skills, confidence, and capacity needed to carry U=U forward including, the leadership of people living with HIV (PLHIV), showcase real-world implementation across regions, the unique collaboration between PLHIV, governments, and partners, elevate the role of shared learning and peer exchange in advancing U=U as both a public health strategy and a tool for ending HIV-related stigma.
As part of the collaboration, learning opportunities connected to U=U University, the Prevention Access Campaign’s global capacity-building initiative, will be integrated into the LIVING2026 experience. U=U University was developed to support accurate, confident, and context-responsive communication of U=U, and to equip advocates, health workers, and community leaders with practical skills to support implementation in diverse settings.
The lives of over 40 million people living with HIV worldwide extend beyond mere statistics. This collaboration emphasizes the need for a unified effort to reimagine strategies for sustained access to treatment, ensuring people not only survive but thrive. The “Undetectable = Untransmittable” message underscores the importance of achieving viral suppression for both individual health and for high impact HIV prevention. This collaboration is both a celebration and a call to action. Evidence alone does not sustain impact. Continued progress requires investment in people, networks, and implementation.
As the global community looks toward LIVING2026, GNP+ and the Prevention Access Campaign invite partners, donors, and allies to join in ensuring that the next decade of U=U reaches everyone, everywhere, with the full power of its promise. Information on sponsorship and partnership opportunities will be shared in the coming months.
Save the date. More details about the LIVING2026 programme and opportunities to engage will be shared soon. For more information contact: Monique Carry, PAC at monique@preventionaccess.org and Inad Quinones Rendon, GNP+ at community@gnpplus.net
